Introduction to Databases is one of the first classes you take either during your first or second semester. It is based heavily on the Use of Microsoft Access (2007). The course runs you through the basic creation of a Database such as creating Tables and Fields and inputting Data, to Learning about One-to-One and One-to-Many Relationships and how they work. You learn how to hand create Reports and Forms and during the final stages of the Class you learn how to Create Macros and how to create a sort of GUI to browse the Database and its various Functions. Attached is my Final Project in the Intro to Databases Class. The requirements were to make a Database with Relationships and to use Macros to create a GUI to browse all the parts of the Database.
While the Final Project is nothing in the way of Spectacular, I think It shows my basic understanding of how a Database works (at least in a Microsoft Access environment). Prior to taking this class I had not even heard of a Database in this respect. The knowledge in this class is later reinforced in a Senior Class called Applications in Software which focuses on PHP and later MYSQL and databases. I have used what I've learned from the Introduction to Databases class as well as learning and experimenting on my own to create a simple Database for my Dad's business to hold, view, and add his Expenses.
