Microsoft Operating Systems

This was the final task out Microsoft Operating Systems, which is a class usually taken during your Third Semester. The course goes from the Basic use of Windows XP and Windows 7, to more advanced features of both Operating systems, and finishes off with a basic overview of Windows Server 2003 (Windows Server Environments are covered more in depth in a later class). This Task in particular, being the final one of the class, involves manipulating a Windows 2003 Sever environment and creating GPOs to then be implimented on the client Windows XP machine we (this task was done with a partner) also set up.

By this time in the cirriculum, I was already quite familiar with the workings of Windows XP and Windows 7, although this course did touch on subject pertaining to Security Settings and other things, which I had not learned up to this point. That said, working in Windows Server Environments was completely new to me, and while the interfaces may resemble the familiar Windows OSs, the power and capabilities of Windows Servers are much different. While this course only touched on a basic level of Windows Servers, it set me up with a good understanding of the Server, how to navigate them, and how to set up things such as Policies, Groups, OUs and how to impliment them on client machines. All this knowledge was later reinforced and expanded upon in a later class Network Systems Managements (See: Artifact 3 - Network Systems Management)
